Has nothing to do with a trip to Europe, but I can't resist posting a quote from the great 3rd century scholar, Scrutotus:

Hotels in Paris

I was encouraged that some hotels in good locations were shown as costing only 35€ on Tripadvisor. Must be per person double occupancy. On their websites, the price was shown over twice that.

Hostels are cheap but don't look especially appealing. I think I'm back to camping. I hope it's not too cold and rainy. I'll probably begin in Barcelona and move north.

Mar 24 Planning

Just to begin with, I have purchased plane tickets to fly to Barcelona on April 23 (8:19 AM from SMF) and returning May 21 (leave BCN 11:40AM, arrive SMF 9:44 PM).  (Those times are for my own sake, since I'm terrible at remembering exactly where and when I'm supposed to be somewhere!)

So far nothing else is cast in stone, but I'll be traveling as light as possible and will likely be doing some camping at those KOA-like campsites in Europe to save some money.  I'm starting to think I'll spend at least a week in Paris, where it might be cold for sleeping out, so I'm looking for an inexpensive hotel there.  That's about as far as I've gotten, but will update this as things become more definite.
